Ship Recycling

Ships like any other transportation mode, they do have a particular useful life but also dependent on factors such as wear and tear, regulations, depreciation and cost of maintenance. What happens when a ship gets beyond any useful, productive life? Recycle!

Ship-owners will invariably decide to sell their ships for recycling and gain some realisation from them. The basis of the sale of any vessel for recycling would be on its steel content, measured in term of “Light Displacement Tonnage Long Tonnes or LDT LT”. In short, at the end of its useful life, a ship will simply become a steel commodity.

Brokering for Recycling Ships has been Star Asia’s core strength. Star Asia provides a complete service from the time owners decide to sell their Ships for recycling by getting them the maximum realization for their ships and choosing the right buyer and facility where the recycling process takes place in an environmentally friendly way.

As a value addition to our clients, we also provide ship owners or buyers a complete package of services relating to the ship recycling, starting from Ships delivery worldwide, under own power or tow to the recycling facility at very competitive rates.

We have, over the period of years, gained trust and confidence from the owners globally, cash buyers and direct ship recyclers who play quite a significant role when it comes to performance and delivery. We also ensure and guarantee to the Shipowners, good performance of the cash buyers to whom we sell, irrespective of any fluctuations in the market conditions.

Our aim is to provide accurate market information, future trends, with prompt price indications prevailing, for all four major recycling facilities in Sub-Continent and China.
